How Does The HardWay Bet work When Playing Craps?

What is the "Hardway" bet in Craps?
There are four Hardway bets on the craps table, which can be found in the very center of the table. They are the Hard 4,6,8, and 10. The hardway meaning doubles of a certain number 2+2 would equal a Hard 4, 3+3 would equal a hard 6 and so on. If the shooter rolls the Hardway of your choice the “hardway” before rolling a 7 or that number of your choice the easy way, you win, otherwise you lose. The easy way to roll a 4 is to roll a 3+1. This simply means it is easier to roll those combinations than is is to roll a double(Hardway).

What are the Odds and Payouts of a Hardway Bet?
The payouts may vary by casino, but will not stray much further than the payouts listed here. The hardway 6 and 8 pays 9:1 and has a house edge of 9.09%, the hardways 4 and 10 pay 7:1 and has a house edge of 11.11%. Look for tables that offer higher hardway payouts, such as 9.5:1 or 10:1 on the hard 6 and 8 to lower the house edge.
